WHO YA GONNA CALL!?

So yesterday, we had a VERY NOTABLE Celebrity encounter.
We went to the Grant Park LC and met Dan Aykroyd, where he was doing a wine signing!
We waited in line for an hour and half! So worth it!
Here is a picture of me & Dan:
And here we are with our wine bottles:
Mine says "To Katina: Cheers! Dan Akryod"

My bottle says: "Emma, Who 'ya gonna call? Dan Aykroyd". Before we went up, we brainstormed some personal messages. This was Katina's idea, but when we got up she totally geeked out on me and was to flustered/embarrassed to ask for it. I obviously have no shame. My original was "Emma, you're my girl" but I probably would have felt a little creepy asking for that.

And, for good measure, my personal favourite song of all time:

Spring Gettin' Sprung

It is spring people.  WINTER IS OVER.
I'm so excited ditch ma boots and wear flats again!  Soon....Soon...
I walked a couple of blocks on my way home trying to find a bus stop with a fucking bench (apparently there are none along Taylor...) and I really noticed how warm it is outside.  Just one more essay before I'm DONE UNTIL SEPTEMBER!  Of course that doesn't include the three essays I will have to write in exams, but WHATEVER.  Don't bring that up, please.
Emma and I both agree that this weather makes us think of being in London for some weird reason.  Here is a picture of what we looked like in London for reference:
We are pictured with some girl who's name I can't remember, but I vaguely recall she was awful.
One of the the highlights of our trip (for me at least) was seeing Bloc Party, and Emma and I are TOO STOKED to see them again!  I think the only other musical act I've seen twice is Kanye.
Unfortunately, I've looked over the set lists of their recent Canadian dates and they are skipping over some of my favourites and playing other songs that aren't quite as awesome.  Apparently, they're not playing "Biko", "I Still Remember", "Kreuzberg" or "Pioneers" ever, and "Sunday" and "Flux" sporadically in encores.  COME ON I NEED TO SING ALONG TO THESE SONGS LIVE.  "Pioneers" was the BEST when they played it in LDN.
So who's going and what songs do you need to see?

FOLK FEST '09

OH MY GOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I awoke to the BEST NEW I HAVE GOTTEN IN A LONG LONG TIME!
This year, the folk fest line up is just so incredible. I am flabbergasted, shocked, amazed, excited, stupefied...like I can't even comprehend how good this year is going to be.

Neko Case, Great Lake Swimmers, IRON AND WINE (AHHH), Okkervil River (another AHHH), Bell Orchestre, Xavier Rudd...

good enough to eat

Yesterday I decided to paint my nails. I opted for a bright blue.
I always forget I own this colour because I rarely use it.

Anyway, whenever I look at my hands I get really excited. So, like, watevur.

On another note, the weather is really pulling on my heart strings these days. One week it's mild, and then the next week it's bone chilling. WHEN WILL THIS END??? I almost died waiting for the bus this morning.

Best of Friends

When you think of Katina & Emma, I like to think you'd think of the great friendships of all time.  Like, Johnn and Pony Boy in the outsiders:
"I’ve been thinking about it, and that poem, that guy that wrote it, he meant you’re gold when you’re a kid, like green. When you’re a kid, everything’s new, dawn. It’s just when you get used to everything that it’s day…You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. There’s still lots of good in the world…Your buddy, Johnny.’…Someone should tell their side of the story, and maybe people would understand then and wouldn’t be so quick to judge…And I decided I could tell people…"

Or maybe the Fox & the Hound:

Well, prepare to be shocked.

So, I was up late slaving away on the essay, and proud of my progress, texted Emma.

Katina 3:44 am: Only two hundred words left! Hoooome stretch!
Katina 4:05 am: Only a hundred words left but I'll prob do one fifty more that that.  Oops.

Emma 6:31 am: If you ever text me at 4 am again, I'll rip every fucking appendage from your body.

Nice.
