OMG track Santa!!

I am fucking nuts for NORAD Santa.  It is like the thing to do on Christmas eve, ok?
Basically, the site puts up a map of where Santa has been, and some videos of Santa at various locations, AND you can track Santa in 3-D with Google Earth!  There are also games and other interactive things-it's way more pimped than it was when I first started watching.
Santa's already been around a lot of places: New Zealand, Fiji & Japan!
Here is a video of Santa at the Great Wall of China:

According to Google Earth, Santa is currently in Afghanistan!

Macaulay Culkin is my Christmas Prince

Ok, so we all know that 'Home Alone' is one of THE BEST HOLIDAY MOVIES EVER, if not one of the best movies ever, in general. Parents forget their eight year old kid at home when they go to Paris?  What might seem like an impossible premise is well executed in this John Hughes written movie.  Not only to we get to watch the cutest little kid on the planet doing silly fun little kid stuff that's to be expected when left alone (watching 'filth', eating 'junk' and riding a sled down the stairs) but the movie has a lot of heart (creepy neighbour didn't kill parents, he is just estranged from son, and with Kevin discovers the importance of family-especially around Christmas).  Of course the most fun of the whole film is watching Kevin beat the shit out of two crooks with cleverly placed traps (all signs point to Kevin being a total maniac, by the way).
The movie is so epic that LFO dedicated a line to it in their epic song 'Summer Girls'.
But Home Alone isn't the only Christmas movie starring Macaulay.  Does nobody else fucking love 'The Nutcracker'?
It's a total Christmas classic! The crazy ass Grandfather! The Mouse King!  The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy!  I was fucking obsessed with this movie/story book/ballet when I was little (went ever year).
So, yeah, Macaulay Culkin is basically my fav little Christmas BF.

Christmas Comes but Once a Year

If you're like me, and I hope that you are, you are fucking crazy over holidays.  Like, if you're like me, you go nuts getting into the spirit of holidays and going out of your way to squeeze every last festive ounce out of all seasonal activities.  After milking Halloween and Nov. 25 (Soon to be the intergalactic holiday of Empress Katina) Christmas comes around, and it is the crown jewel of events. Now, I like to watch a lot of holiday movies and listen to a lot of Christmas music to become completely absorbed in holiday festivities.
So in a few blogs before Christmas I'd like to spread the che
er sharing my absolute favs from my childhood until today.
I'd like to start with 'A Chipmunk Christmas', definitely one of the best holiday movies ever made.  Of course, I mean the 80s version, not the 2007 version with David Cross and Matthew Grey Gubler, although I'm sure it's swell.
The story is as timeless as the Chipmunk's musical styling:
Alvin, the leader of a famous musical rodent trio, gives his golden echo harmonica to a boy dying of cholera.  Alvin has to raise money to
buy a new harmonica to play a solo at Carnegie Hall on Christmas eve.  Hilarity ensues.  Seriously, there are wise cracks in this movie I doubt I appreciated as a child (Dave wanting to apologize to Alvin, who he fears he has been to hard on about Alvin's wanting to buy himself a gift and checks on Alvin who is dreaming and calling out "MONEYYY MONNEYYY MOOONNEYYY")
Mrs Claus buys him a new one, and Tommy (the aforementioned sick boy) is cured by Alvin's kindness.
A total tear jerker.
So, obviously, the soundtrack (volume 2) has been a staple to my Christmas' since as long as I can remember.  The songs totally get me in the Christmas mood, and I don't even find the Chipmunks voices annoying AT ALL (is that so bad?) I've included my two personal favorites for your listening pleasure:

Glasses Twins

OMG.
Me & Garcia are glasses twins.
When I first saw the show and that this girl had my glasses I was all
"whhhhyyy is the quirky fat girl wearing my chic glasses?"
But seeing as Garcia is the baddest bitch on the block, it's really a compliment.
I think we should all aspire to be a little bit more like Garcia.  She is a foul mouthed flirt and I love her and her crazy style to bits.

Oh Mandy

You guys,
best news ever.
I was looking through Steve n' Trish's CD collections for some Bruce Springsteen (I'm obsessed with Born to Run by way of the Adam Green cover) and found a treasure I'd never noticed before.
And when I say treasure, I mean like, the fucking crown jewels x a bijillion.
I found this:
That's right, children.  Gideon from Criminal Minds or Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride, has at least one CD to call his own.  I'm putting this on high rotation.
Like, my mom vaguely mentioned that Mandy Patinkin was some sort of musical theatre type, but she failed to mention THIS MASTERPIECE.
Here are my favs thus far, but then again, I've only had the privilege of listening to it twice the whole way through.

Enjoy!
